MS Office Bug/Feature #9: Missing vertical scroll bar in style list in Word 2003 (minor)
OK, this is barely worth mentioning, but I won’t let that stop me!
If you hold down Shift while you click the arrow to the right of the list of styles in the Formatting toolbar, it displays a list of all styles instead of the usual list of available styles (which you get if you don’t hold down Shift).
However, there is a slight bug, which can be reproduced as follows:
- Click anywhere in the document.
- Click the arrow to open the style list.
- Click the arrow to compress the style list again.
- Now Shift-click the arrow.
The list of all styles appears, but the vertical scroll bar is missing. You can use the arrow keys to select a style, and the list scrolls as you would expect, but you cannot use the mouse to achieve the same thing. Using the scroll wheel on my mouse at this point causes the list to jump to the beginning, but other than that it doesn’t control the scrolling.
As I said, this is a very minor thing. Everything works fine if you go straight from Step 1 to Step 4.
